Eastminster Presbyterian Church presents Band, Chorus, Frozen Confection

(INDIALANTIC, FL) June 18, 2018— Brevard residents can enjoy a free patriotic concert at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, July 4th at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 106 N. Riverside Drive, Indialantic, 32903. The Melbourne Municipal Band and Festival Chorus will come together for God Bless the USA, celebrating our nation’s heritage through song. Held inside the air conditioned sanctuary of Eastminster Presbyterian Church, the popular event will feature ice cream served before and after the concert. The music will be simulcast in the fellowship hall to any latecomers. Attendees are invited to remain on the grounds after the concert to view the Front Street fireworks beginning at 9 p.m. (weather permitting). The audience will be encouraged to sing several numbers during the musical extravaganza which will feature much-loved selections such as God Bless America, Star Spangled Banner, God of Our Fathers, Armed Forces Salute, Battle Hymn of the Republic, and many others. Veterans and their families will be asked to stand and be recognized when the military anthem for their branch of the service is played. Eastminster Presbyterian Church Outreach Outreach Coordinator, Jill McCall, thinks God Bless the USA will be a great evening out for patriots of every age.

“The Festival Chorus is made up of singers from many area churches and local choirs,” said Ms. McCall. “When you add the talents of the Melbourne Municipal Band, the result is a concert that provides the whole community with the gift of patriotic music. After the concert, folks are welcome to spread a blanket on the church lawn, have some ice cream and watch the Front Street fireworks.“

ABOUT THE MELBOURNE MUNICIPAL BAND and Staci Cleveland, Conductor--
The mission of the Melbourne Municipal Band (MMB), established in 1965, is to bring free concerts to area residents and visitors, to promote music appreciation and education – particularly among young people – and to provide members of the band with an avenue for music performance and development. One-third of the band`s 80-plus members are professional musicians. In a typical year, the band serves 20,000 attendees, and its members give 27,000 hours of community service in the form of rehearsals and performance time.

Staci Cleveland was named as the Conductor for the Melbourne Municipal Band in June of 2010. Cleveland graduated from the University of Florida with her Bachelor in Music Education in 1992, and with her Master of Music in Instrumental Conducting in 1994. She studied conducting with Dr. David A. Waybright while serving as a Graduate Assistant in the UF School of Music. After serving as the Director of Admissions and Undergraduate Advising for the School of Music at UF, she taught band in the Florida Public Schools. She currently lives with her family in Melbourne, where she teaches privately and plays flute various community ensembles.
