Dear Parents and Students,
The Melbourne Municipal Band (MMB) is holding its 12th Summer Youth Band Music Program from June 17th, 2019 thru July 11th, 2019. The program is open to all students currently enrolled in grades 6 thru 12 during the 2018-2019 school year, who want to learn to play or already play a musical instrument. It will be 4 days a week (Monday thru Thursday) from 9 AM to 11 AM.

There will be a jazz improvisation class 2 days a week from 11 AM to 12 PM. You must participate in the entire program to be eligible for the jazz improvisation class and fulfill the following requirements: All jazz improvisation students must participate in the entire camp to be eligible; Students must have played their instrument for at least 2 years; Woodwind and brass players must know their Bb, Eb, and F Concert scales; Drum set players must be able to keep a steady jazz beat.

The summer music program will be held at Church on the Rock, 4028 Babcock St, Melbourne. There will be a concert on the final day of the program, July 11th at 6:00 PM at the Melbourne Civic Auditorium, 625 E Hibiscus Blvd, Melbourne. Parents are invited to bring a picnic dinner to enjoy during the concert. Participating students will be served free pizza and a drink at the conclusion of the concert.

The students attend the program free of charge. There is no cost for the lesson book for beginners. We do have instruments available on a first come first serve basis. Once all of our instruments are distributed, we will pay for one month rental of the instrument for those students beginning a new instrument. There is a minimum rental period of 3 months.

Rentals will be directly through the music stores. Lesson books will be given to the students on the first day of the summer program by their instructor. Please fill out the online registration form here by Friday, May 31st, 2019.
