7th Jun 2019 Adagio Sax Quartet Presents an Evening of Classical Music June 7
MELBOURNE, FL, May 17, 2019 – The Adagio Sax Quartet (ASQ) presents a concert of popular classical works June 7, 2019 at 7 p.m. during the First Friday Fellowship Concert at the Highland Ave. Fellowship Church, 1591 Highland Ave, Melbourne, FL 32935. The concert is free. A $10 donation is suggested.

The “I Know That Song” concert will spotlight popular classical works from Bach to Bizet. Featured selections will include Bach’s Fugue in G minor, Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nachtmusic, and Bizet’s Carmen Fantasy.

“Our quartet has a broad selection of classical music in our repertoire, so we decided to do a concert of only classical music,” said Dave Hutson, founder of the group and the baritone sax player. “Many audiences are surprised by the rich and vibrant sound of the saxophone. One audience member remarked that the quartet’s performance of Bach’s Little Fuguesounded like a pipe organ.”

ASQ is considered among the area’s pre-eminent sax quartets. In addition to Hutson, musicians include: Andrew Cleaver, soprano and first alto sax, who spent 20 years in Air Force bands, including the Airmen of Note; and John Babb, on tenor sax, who came to the area from Atlanta, where he played in the pit band of several theaters and who plays with Swingtime.

A new addition for this concert is Jade Deatherage, on alto saxophone. She is a recent UCF graduate who was principal saxophone in the UCF Wind Ensemble and plays soprano saxophone in the Camembert Saxophone Quartet.
